About Dr. Saper

David Saper, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, trauma, and joint replacement of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He is the co-director of sports medicine at Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Centers, located in West Rogers Park and Wicker Park, Chicago.

Dr. Saper earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana before going to medical school. He completed medical school and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and he served as an assistant physician for the University of Chicago Maroon’s athletic department.

Dr. Saper completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Boston University Medical Center, New England’s busiest Level 1 trauma center. He also provides trauma and fracture care at two of Chicago’s Level 1 trauma centers.

Committed to advancing his education and orthopaedic knowledge, Dr. Saper has advanced training in non-operative and minimally invasive procedures to treat and repair orthopaedic injuries, sports injuries, and arthritis. 

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Saper extends his knowledge through research presentations at national orthopaedic conferences, publishes peer-reviewed research papers, novel surgical techniques, and review articles in orthopaedic literature, and serves as a reviewer for The American Journal of Sports Medicine.
